Here's a Newt I started a while back. Fiscal conservatives haven't had a dog in the fight since Reagan. America is like a drug addict. Yesterday John Boehner became the 61st Speaker of The U.S. House of Representatives. One of the things I particularly like about him is that he helped Newt Gingrich draft the Contract with America back in '94. Other than that I don't know much about him. It was a huge relief to see Pelosi's 4 year reign end. Hopefully all these new conservatives will go up there and actually make a difference.

Here's a sketch of Jeff Bridges from the movie True Grit. I highly recommend it. While he was really good in the movie (and I hope he gets another Oscar) the standout to me was the girl that played Mattie Ross. Three things I find really difficult to obtain likeness on are females, children, and hands. This one has all three. I saw this photograph and just had to try it though. At the same time I'm trying a different technique which is making it hard as well. One of my favorite actors. Glad to see he won an Oscar this year even though I haven't seen the movie. I heard it was good though and he sang all his own songs.   I got a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen for my birthday this year and I really like it. I haven't used it that much though. I was trying to think of something to sketch where stark black and white would fit and Reservoir Dogs came to mind. This was a quick value study I did from a concept sketch of Mace Windu in the animated Clone Wars series.
